Lilo & Stitch Wiki

The Cluster Sovereign Drones are characters exclusive to the Lilo & Stitch comic series from Dynamite Comics. They serve as secondary antagonists of the first story arc, being the henchmen of the Cluster Sovereign.

Appearance[]

The drones come in three distinct models:

  • The first model resembles a mechanical shark with arms. They can move by hovering through the air.
  • The second model, named Phase Two Drones, are more humanoid in appearance with arms and legs. They are armed with a plasma cannon and can fly. Initially, they have heads resembling sharks, but after absorbing some of Stitch's DNA, their heads change into heads resembling Stitch.
  • The third model is an upgrade of the second, having a bulkier appearance and being colored a darker shade of blue. They also have heads that look like Stitch.

History[]

The drones all serve the Cluster Sovereign, but at the start of the series they are way too passive and friendly to effectively overthrow the United Galactic Federation. The Sovereign thus orders them to capture Experiment 626 on Earth in hopes that he can incorporate 626's DNA, and thus his original destructive programming, into the drones.

Two of the model 1 drones capture Stitch, but he escapes them and ends up in New York City. Both Stitch and the Drones end up at a toy convention, where they blend in among the many cosplaying visitors. Stitch is able to evade the drones for a while by hiding in a stand that sells blue koala dolls, which strongly resemble him. Eventually the drones catch on to the deception, around the same time that Lilo Pelekai also arrives at the con. Along with Mike, the owner of the stand who befriended Stitch, she distracts the drones by throwing the koala dolls at them. The drones get confused and collide, with both falling to the ground unconscious. One quickly regains consciousness and captures both Stitch and Mike, but Stitch defeats him off panel and the two escape. The other drone is hacked by Jumba Jookiba, who removes the Sovereign's programming. The drone then reveals the Sovereign's plan to the protagonists.

In Issue #3, the Phase Two model first shows up. They track down Stitch in the Australian outback and manage to sample some of his DNA, which gives them new heads and an ability boost. Stitch nevertheless manages to defeat them, and from their remains makes a raft, with which he sails to India. There, both Stitch and the drones encounter a group of young film makers, and get roped into helping them make a movie. The movie becomes a succes, and Stitch becomes a local celebrity. The movie is also seen by the Sovereign however, and he comes to India with two Phase Three drones to finish the job. He first has them take out the Phase Two drones as he considers them traitors. Encouraged by Lilo, Stitch allows the drones to capture him and tap into his mind. Rather than his destructive programming, the drones end up absorbing Stitch' memories of his life on Earth and the friends he made there, which makes them turn on the Sovereign. They then take out the Sovereign himself by tricking him into grabbing a plasma bomb.

The drones are last seen in Hawaii after Stitch returns home, having fun with Stitch, Lilo and their Indian friends. The Sovereign decides to abandon his plan to overthrow the Federation. Neither he nor he drones are seen again after this.
