"Bad Stitch" is the thirty-eighth episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It aired on January 30, 2004.
Plot[]
Nani has been receiving a lot of bills for Stitch's destruction and unruly behavior, so she gets Lilo to try and train him to be more civilized (otherwise, she will have to get rid of him forever). When Lilo's attempts prove to be unsuccessful, Stitch decides to find a way to make money for the Pelekais and ends up being kidnapped by Dr. Hämsterviel, who plans to turn him evil again. Now, Lilo, Jumba and Pleakley must rescue Stitch before it's too late. Meanwhile, after getting fired by Hämsterviel, Gantu searches for a new job.
Trivia[]
- Moral: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
- This is one of three episodes that doesn't show new experiments, the other two being "The Asteroid" and "Rufus".
- This is also the second episode to not have an experiment's name for a title, the other two being "The Asteroid" and "Rufus".
- This is the second episode where Hämsterviel escaped from prison, the first being "Finder", the third being "Skip". Unlike the first episode, however, he is revealed to have been given a three-day furlough.
- Hämsterviel reveals that he recycles, as he took the flier that Gantu was holding.
- Gantu in his pirate costume looks very similar to Mr. Smee from Peter Pan.
- It is revealed in this episode that Lilo needs her hula lessons for self-esteem, personal growth, and development.
- Speaking of which, it is unknown when Lilo had won the hula trophy, which Stitch accidentally breaks in two.
- When Jumba created a machine that produces money in order to help offset Nani's bills, he was unknowingly committing counterfeiting, which is a felony offense.
- Of course, considering Jumba's love of evil, he most likely would have been even more proud of his invention if he had known it was illegal.
- Nani's decision to cancel Lilo's hula lessons for the month in order to save money due to the destruction Stitch has caused, along with Lilo feeling hurt about this, is a callback to a similar scene from the original movie when Moses abruptly ended hula class after Lilo lashed out at Mertle, who insulted her for her absurd reasoning for feeding Pudge.
- Another callback to the first film is Nani threatening to get rid of Stitch forever due to the destruction he has caused, as well as a remorseful Stitch running away upon realizing how much harm he has caused to the Pelekai family in two separate scenes.
- This is one of three episodes where Stitch is treated like an actual dog, the other two being "Phantasmo" and "Yapper".
- This is the second time Stitch reverted to his original programming, the first time being in "Amnesio", though the latter case was due to Stitch's memories being erased by Amnesio.
- When Hämsterviel reverts Stitch back to his original destructive programming and then orders him to kill Lilo, Jumba, and Pleakley, after Lilo reminds Stitch of the good experiment he is deep inside, he decides not to kill them and instead turns against Hämsterviel. This proves that years of Lilo's compassion and positive influence has clearly gotten the better of Stitch, and therefore effectively undoes the effects of Hämsterviel's evil reprogramming in him.
- This episode was banned in China and Japan until 2010 for unknown reasons.
- This is the last episode in which Lilo wears her green leaf pattern dress.
